About the Therapies
Aromatherapy, Indian Head Massage, Reflexology and Reiki sessions, Hypnotherapy and Chiropody, all with qualified practioners, are offered at the Tak Tent offices. Complementary therapies are not an alternative to conventional medicine, and those currently undergoing treatment should obtain their Doctor's agreement before commencing complementary therapy.
About the Therapists
All of the Tak Tent therapists have undergone training encompassing detailed knowledge relevant to the therapies they offer. This includes understanding of physiology and the psychological needs of the clients. Your therapist will take a case history to build up a picture of your symptoms, lifestyle and diet. If you would like more information, or would like to book an appointment, please contact the office.

The therapies in more detail:
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a caring, hands-on therapy which seeks to induce relaxation, to increase energy and to reduce the effects of stress. It is a system of healing which involves the use of pure essential oils extracted from parts of plants and trees. Each oil has its own unique properties and is absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream. Oils can relieve anxiety, stimulate the circulation, work on the immune system and help to relieve pain.
Indian Head Massage
This is a traditional Indian technique for de-stressing the body by massaging the upper back, head, shoulders, face and scalp. It has been practised in the East for over 1000 years, having its origins in family grooming. Indian Head Massage can be both a relaxing and invigorating experience, and helps relieve physical and mental fatigue and muscular tension.

Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient, holistic therapy which involves applciation of a continuous, even pressure to minute parts of the feet known as the reflex areas. The release of tension induced by this specialised massage technique allows the healing forces in the body to restore the natural balance and energy flow. It can be used to relieve conditions such as high blood pressure, stress, back pain and allergies.

Reiki
This is a hands-on healing technique, believed to have originated in ancient Tibet, which focuses on the flow of energy through the body. The recipient, fully clothed, lies on the couch and relaxes. The practitioner places hands, non-intrusively, in a sequence of positions over the body. A pleasant sensation of warmth or tingling may be experienced in the areas touched as the body responds, thereby soothing pain and enabling natural healing.
Hypnotherapy
Clinical hypnotherapy uses hypnosis techniques in a therapeutic manner. By inducing a deeply relaxed physical and mental state, the unconscious mind can be accessed more easily and is more receptive to positive suggestions. It can help with relaxation, anxiety, pain relief, nausea, visualisations and stress.
Chiropody
Natural chiropody combines the use of traditional surgical instruments and techniques with natural preparations and foot massage to treat the feet holistically wherever possible. All common problems can be treated, such as corns, verrucae, hard skin, ingrowing toenails and athlete's foot.
